November 1 & 2, 2018.
Once again, the community of south west Saskatchewan has shown their generosity and made our Pharmasave Radiothon for Healthcare a great success! This year our Radiothon goal was to purchase a new digital portable x-ray unit for the Cypress Regional Hospital, an extremely valuable diagnostic tool. This new x-ray system allows for bedside x-rays to be done quickly and effectively for patients either too ill or too injured to move to the main x-ray suite. This allows the medical staff to efficiently make the best treatment decisions for the patient.
Of course we would like to extend our gratitude to a number of people who made Radiothon run as smoothly as it did. Without donations, we don’t have a Radiothon, so thank you not only to our generous supporters and donors, but to the people who were responsible for taking those donations. Our phone bank was manned throughout Radiothon to accept donations from those who called in as well as those who came to donate in person. A big thank you also goes out to our sponors! Pharmasave was our title sponsor once again for the ‘Pharmasave Your Family’s Health Radiothon’ and we thank them for their continued support (pictured at left making their donation). Also sponsoring this year was Living Sky Casino, Swift Current & District Ambulance Service, Swift Current Eagles Club, Great West Auto Electric, Innovation Credit Union Abbey Farming Co. Ltd, Beech Farming Co. Ltd, BMO – Bank of Montreal, Kinsmen Foundation, Lily Street Foundation, Optical Image, Pennant Farming Co. Ltd, Pioneer Co-op, Southwest Paving, Swift Current Kiwanis, Tompkins Farming Co. Ltd, and W.W. Smith Insurance! To all who sponsored, thank you for helping Keep Healthcare Strong in the Cypress Health Region.
We were very excited to have BMO – Bank of Montreal come on board with Radiothon this year offering up a $25,000 matching program to start off the broadcast! Early Friday morning we had gathered enough donations from those walking in and calling in, that we were able to add BMO’s contribution and push us past the $50,000 mark!
Another great group that joined us this year in helping to reach our goal was the Kinsmen Foundation. The Kinsmen are no strangers to Saskatchewan folks, holding their Telemiracle every year as well as doing countless great acts in their own local communities. This year, the Kinsmen Foundation decided to contribute to our Pharmasave Radiothon for Healthcare! We were so excited and grateful to receive their donation of $50,000 Friday afternoon during our broadcast that put us so close to the $150,000 mark!
A terrific addition to every single Radiothon is the talent that local performers come out and share with us as part of the broadcast. This live entertainment is often enjoyed by patients who are in care at Cypress Regional Hospital. This year our performers were outstanding yet again. We wish to thank, Justine Sletten (pictured at right), Jesse Gensorek and Glenna Switzer for sharing their talents and their time to add a special touch to our broadcast!
And, once again, thanks to our broadcasting group from Golden West Broadcasting for all of their time and talents and efforts. This year, they worked with us to bring our Radiothon to all three local radio stations, extending our reach and our coverage. It all went off without a hitch, and the results of this year’s Pharmasave Radiothon for Healthcare speak for themselves.
