Nearly 200 people, most of them women, were in attendance to hear the message and stories from breast cancer survivors at this morning’s Close to the Heart Digital Mammography Campaign kickoff breakfast. The breakfast was put on by the Foundation as a way to introduce our new campaign and raise funds and awareness to help purchase a new digital mammography unit. The current digital mammography unit at Cypress Regional Hospital is still functioning well and doing its job, but the new unit has ten years of new technology advancements and improvements. (Think of how much your cell phone has improved in that time). The new machine will cost approximately $350,000.00 which will be the focus of many of our events and activities in 2019, culminating with the Pharmasave Radiothon for Healthcare. Please support one of these fun events or simply make a donation. We need your help to save lives. To donate, click on the donate button at the bottom of this page, or call 306-778-3314.
The latest addition to the Diagnostic Imaging department at Cypress Regional Hospital has arrived! Last years fund-raising goal for the Pharmasave Radiothon for Healthcare was a Portable Digital X-ray machine, and it is here and in use at CRH. The unit itself is quite remarkable, allowing healthcare providers to take and see x-rays at bedside for patients who are critical or not easily moved, plus it uses less radiation than the old machine and takes clearer pictures. One staff member commented that it is even better than they were hoping for. Thank you for your donation to this cause. Without your support this purchase would not have been possible. Your donated dollars are hard at work at the Cypress Regional Hospital, Keeping Local Healthcare Strong.
We had an excellent turnout for our Annual General Meeting, April 17th, at the Cypress Regional Hospital. We welcomed Nora Tinant, Leanne Tuntland Wiebe and Gay Anderson! We also were fortunate enough to have Saskatchewan Health Authority CEO Scott Livingstone join us to speak with the 80 or so people in attendance. A particular highlight of the night was the hospital staff led tours through different departments, highlighting pieces of equipment purchased with funds donated to the Foundation. Click here to see this year’s (or any previous year’s) Annual Report and read more.

Dr. Malcolm Banks demonstrates the instruments he uses in eye surgery
One of the new maternity beds purchased from Radiothon gets demonstrated.
Dr Michael Kapusta demonstrates the simulation lab and how it is used to keep medical staff trained and prepared
Dr Kevin Wasko shows the capabilities of the new portable ultrasound and all of the applications it has.
The CT Scanner was the single largest purchase funded by donations to the Foundation, thanks to the estate of Roy H. Blanchard!
It was two days of broadcasting from the atrium of the Cypress Regional Hospital, asking the southwest Saskatchewan community to support a much needed purchase, and they came through in a big way! The piece of equipment in question is a digital portable x-ray machine, which can be wheeled into any area of the Cypress Regional Hospital required, be it OR, ER, ICU, Maternity, or even on the Med-Surg wards. This new piece of equipment will primarily be used for assessing patients that are too ill, or injured to be moved to the main x-ray suite.
Our Pharmasave Radiothon for Healthcare broadcast started with a $25,000 matching donation from Bank of Montreal, and ended with a $50,000 donation from the Kinsmen Foundation, making it one of our most successful Radiothon’s to date. Through the course of the broadcast we also had a ton of great support from many sponsors, and a huge response from private donors who helped us to surpass our goal. Thank You!
All funds raised from the Pharmasave Radiothon for Healthcare will be put towards equipment for the Cypress Regional Hospital, including the digital portable x-ray
The 2018 NHL Playoff Black Tie Hockey Draft has drawn to a close. Friday June 15th, The Dr Noble Irwin Regional Healthcare Foundation and The Field of Dreams group came together at Mitchell Field to award our winners! In total the fundraising event gathered nearly $40,000, which is split evenly between the two organizing groups. Our winners took home a substantial sum too, with the first place team Riverside Electric (shown left) winning the Crescent Point Energy Cup and $7500; Astro’s Cruisers winning 2nd and $3000; and the Lucky Puckers winning 3rd place and $1500. A big thank you to all of our sponsors including our title sponsor Crescent Point Energy (shown below Brad Bakken accepts a plaque from the Black Tie committee), as well we would like to thank, Living Sky Casino, Molson-Coors, Whitecap Resources Ltd, Crop Production Services, Stark and Marsh, South West Terminals, and MNP.
Nursing Students, Jenny Soucy, Megan Sulz and Tiffany To, have completed a project they were working on for their studies and more importantly for the improved quality of life for residents of Clover House at The Meadows. Clover House is designated for shorter term rehabilitation stays, respite care, and palliative care, and did not previously have any gardening area for its clients to enjoy. As part of their project, these three ladies identified gardening as a way to increase recreational therapy to promote dignified care, and enable clients to get involved and be in control of their daily life situations, and encourage independence. When these students approached the Foundation and made their case for the value of this project, we whole heartedly agreed and joined them in working towards making this project a reality. Many thanks as well to all those who contributed!
It was a bit of a damp day, but that did not dampen the spirits of many on the course! All told, it was a pretty great fun fundraising day, with 148 golfers signed up and ready to go. The weather played a factor for the second half of the round, but did not slow down our top team, Crutch’s Plumbing and Heating, who shot a 56 to win it! A huge thanks to all the sponsors and golfers who made this possible. we look forward to seeing you again next year, June 7th, 2019.
